Map Town News and Community Interaction
We look forward to being actively engaged in events that is reflective of our core values - those that support grassroots community events, not-for-profit organizations (such as community associations), outdoor pursuits, and the education of geography to children.
Do you have a special community event in the future? If so, please contact Map Town to discuss what we can do to help make your event a success!

Map Town will be sponsoring the Henry Kayak Expedition. Below is the Henry brothers plan for their trip:
Beginning in June 2013 until January 2014, we will paddle from the mouth of the Amazon river in Brazil to North America.
This trip will take us through the countries of Brazil, French Guiana, Suriname, Guyana, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Martinique, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Montserrat, St?. Kitts and Nevis, St Martin, Sint Maarten, Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, American Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos Islands, The Bahamas, and the USA.
First paddling out of the Amazon and then up the South American coast, leg 1 of the trip will cover 2600km and be almost exclusively coastline paddling in an isolated and remote part of the world. Once arriving in Trinidad, leg 2 will take us across the Caribbean Ocean to Florida. This involves island hopping our way to the North and then the Northwest. We will face many long exposed crossings, 4 of which are 100km+, as well as a rapidly changing landscape of culture and custom.
6500 km is not to be taken lightly. But with solid preparation, dogged determination, and some healthy brotherly competition we feel confident in our ability to complete this voyage.
Words cannot describe how excited we are to begin tackling this beast.

GlobalFest is a not-for-profit society dedicated to celebrating and showcasing Calgary's cultural diversity and artistic excellence within our communities locally and across the globe.
Map Town strongly believes that people, especially children should understand their world, both locally and regionally. To that end 5,000 maps were distributed over the course of the festival to attendees.
