Facts and Online Map of Morocco

Morocco's long struggle for independence from France ended in 1956. The internationalized city of Tangier was turned over to the new country that same year. Morocco virtually annexed Western Sahara during the late 1970s, but final resolution on the status of the territory remains unresolved.

Located in northern Africa, Morocco borders the North Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, between Algeria and Mauritania, and just across the Strait of Gibraltar from Spain. The terrain varies from sea level along the coast where surfing and windsurfing are popular, to the High Atlas Mountains, rising to the high point of Jebel Toubkal at 4,165 m, a popular trek. Casablanca, Marrakesh, Tangier, Rabat, Fès .... explore these historic and fascinating Moroccan cities. Buy a Morocco travel book and map to start dreaming of your visit.
